Homemade Chicken Nuggets
If you have children or adults in your family that love fast-food chicken nuggets or those ones packaged in the freezer aisle, guess what? You’re going to love these. My homemade chicken nuggets are simple to make and not anything like a chicken tender. In other words, they’re not fried up chicken pieces that tend to be stringy. Instead, they’re soft and simple to bite through making them the perfect toddler food… or adult food. My trick is to grind up chicken, raw, by pulsing them in my food processor.
Instructions to prepare the best homemade chicken nuggets?
- Take the Chicken Nuggets out of the freezer to defrost (10 to 15 minutes)
- Pan fry them with a few drops of oil
- Remove on tissue paper when golden brown to soak oil
There are a number of reasons why your kids will be naturally drawn to Qzeen’s ChickenNuggets:
- They are easy to eat. Bite-sized finger food is always popular with kids. Lack of patience means they often don’t like to chew too much and many kids don’t like to get their hands messy so that dry crispy coating is perfect.
- The combination of protein, salt, and sugar. Processed food companies have mastered the perfect combination of fat, salt, and sugar, making chicken nuggets and other processed foods genuinely addictive. Fast food restaurants offer nuggets made up of more than 50% fat, 25% carbohydrate, and less than 20% protein. Our homemade chicken nuggets have considerably increased levels of protein and reduced fat content. And although I do add salt, they won’t come close to the sodium level in store-bought nuggets.
- Uniformity and familiarity. This was a big factor for my kids when growing up. They wanted to be able to see the ingredients in their food. So, anything with different colors and textures mixed together was a no-go for them. Uniform food all the way, and my kids would love to eat it. The processed center of a ready-to-go chicken nugget is reliable… uniformly white and soft, no surprises… you know what you’re going to get.
